LPU lays bare its abounding talent in Youth Fest 2009: 15000 attend as 2000 participate

The fest was inaugurated by Shri Ashok Mittal, Chancellor-LPU and Ms. Rashmi Mittal, Executive Dean-LPU, in presence of nearly 15000 students of the University. The evening was characterized by music and dance with various band performances from various schools of the University. The first day of the fest saw a crowd of hundreds tapping their feet and shaking themselves to the tunes of “Astitva” and “Divine Sanity”, the two rock bands of the University. Amongst the major events of the day were Group Dance, Ghazal, Indian Group Song, Western Group Song, Solo tabla, Creative song, Punjabi Folk song, Mimickry, Mime, Folk Orchestra etc. A separate venue hosted the audience with a taste of theater as one play performance followed the other. Underlining the significance of the Youth Festival, Mr. Mittal in his address to the students said, “The major objective of conducting the fest is to encourage and nurture the cultural talent of the students of the University by bringing to fore various genre of art and literary events which will have a demonstrative and developmental effect on the hidden talent of thousands of the students studying in the University.” The fest will continue for the second day on Sunday, and promises more of entertainment, fun and learning on its last day.

Placement at Lovely Professional University

To cater to the placement needs of the students, Lovely Professional University has a separate division called the Division of Academia Industry Interface. The division is playing the role of a bridge between the Industry and the student community through meaningful interaction which is intellectually stimulating and brings awareness to the faculty and the students to prepare according to the changing demands of the Industry. More than 150 multinational companies visited the LPU campus for recruitment, offering jobs to more than 3000 students. The division also acts as a consultancy source for projects and assignments of direct relevance to the Industry, acting as a conduit between LPU and the external world to facilitate technology transfer and support to convert research outcomes into commercially viable propositions.
